Images from Hampton Court Flower Show.

I hope you like these photo's I took at Hampton Court on Thursday. I took almost 200 in total but a few had to be deleted. I would love to show them all, but it will have to be in stages over the coming weeks. The weather was perfect and just breezy enough to be comfortable although it did get very hot in the afternoon. We had a fantastic day there. I have been going every year for many years now, but Austin has only been twice, this being his second visit and he enjoyed it much more this time since helping me on the allotment and in the garden, I guess he is more aware of plants now and has a keener interest in them.

My favourite kind of photography at these flower shows is the close up of the planting and the odds and ends around the grounds, such as on the various stalls with interesting bric a brac. These kind of photo's make lovely greetings cards.

I'm off to the lottie now to harvest my broad beans and peas and plant my 'Florence Fennel' this last job is well overdue as it's growing quickly and needs to go into the ground. I have it growing in little newspaper pots, so that the roots don't get disturbed.

HAVE A LOVELY WEEK-END EVERYONE.

INTERESTING GARDENS.

THIS VISITOR WAS DRESSED AS COLOURFUL AS THE FLOWERS.
HE LOOKED AMAZING.

Oooh Maureen Lucky you getting to go to a lovely flower show. Every year I say i will go to Chelsea next year and still havent been in years! I think there must be a bit of a tinker in me as I seem to like his garden best of all!!! hope you had a great time, did you buy anything nice? Great flower show. It's enough to get anyone interested in plants! I like the shot of the chair and pillows best.

My watermelon is growing to frightening proportions. And peaches...what to do with all these peaches!
Right now, it's too hot for me to do any work outside. At 8pm, I usually try to cheat in a few minutes.

Hi Maureen. I'm so pleased you like the music.

Did you find it too modern (there's lots of dissonance)?

To see | to listen | is easier | as the clock | rolls back | perhaps?

The idea of the video was that children have and easier time hearing and seeing without prejudice. It's only as we grow older, that we become more restricted in our tastes. Make any sense? Children will accept things that adult no longer care to. Many people find music too abstract and, at times, have trouble understanding.

Now you see, I don't even know who Amy Winehouse is! (goes to show you where I'm at!)

The music is completely atonal (in other words, it's not in any key nor does it have a tonal center). Maureen, you surprise me (pleasantly). I thought you might have found it a little, shall we say, out. Could you tell it was not a real piano? (I don't have the microphones to record my piano).

PS. I see you have a new post.

Maureen, I played the piece on a MIDI-equipped electronic keyboard ( MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface). The sound of the piano came from a sample library on my computer. Each note of a grand piano was meticulously recorded (sampled). Midi then works its magic. Each note that I play, including how hard it was pressed, is sent to the sample library. Then the correct "sample" is selected and sent to the audio driver on my computer and produces a sound, which is then recorded digitally.

Does this help?

I have a Yamaha grand piano upstairs, but it would be difficult to select and place microphones correctly to record it. Then there is the problem of extraneous noise (it's not a sound-proof studio!).

The beauty of using the "sampled" piano is that it is already studio recorded for you. It doesn't exactly sound like a grand piano, but it's pretty close.
