Signs of Spring at RHS Wisley

These photographs are from our visit on Monday to Wisley Gardens, there were signs of spring everywhere, we took Bertie there with us, it's his 4th visit now, I'm hoping to encourage him to have a love of plants and flowers, I might need a helpful gardener when I'm very old !!!
I love Hellebores and have started a collection of my own for the garden. I didn't get to the allotment today, but I did pot on my Dahlia seedlings. I have far too many, but I am sure someone at the allotment will be glad of some, including my daughter, who with her partner is just starting to plan out their plot. The seedlings seemed to have done well after their little holiday on my son's windowsill. I will post a photo when they are a little bigger.

I would love to visit Wisley Maureen. My sister lives not so far away and has promised to take me one day when I visit her. I do admire your strategy of encouraging Bertie to be interested in plants and flowers :) As well as your ulterior motive such an interest will give him lifelong pleasure. Look forward to seeing photos of the seedlings.

I've never been to Wisley either, but it's on the wish list along with Kew - and just a few dozen others. Pleased the seedlings came to no harm after their journeys.

Hi there CHERRY, ANNA & PAM.
I would really recommend a visit to Wisley, it's amazing. There is the largest glasshouse I have seen other than the "Eden Project" and the walks and gardens are lovely. Plus for us with allotments there is their own vegetable garden, which is set out like an allotment, so lots of interesting things to do plus nice cafe & a restaurant, so a lovely long day out. I hope you both get to visit there soon. I am lucky as my son lives 10 mins away from Wisley, thats how we get to go so often, so I have taken out RHS membership now as well as the National Trust.

Oh I love Wisely, haven't been for a couple of years - the big greenhouse is new since then. I love the way every time I go, I like something else best. I remember one time, even earlier than this in the year I think, it was a little alpine house just full of the most beautiful smell of sweet violets...

My main favourite places in the summer are the huge rock garden, Penelope Hobhouse's garden and the herb garden.

EB, the herb garden smelt beautiful. If you haven't seen the glasshouse you should try to visit again as it has some amazing plants especially the orchids.

I am looking forward to seeing your Dahlia's when they grow and the Hellebore pictures are lovely - one of my favourite flowers.

That's hellebore heaven for me. I'm loving these plants but they can be pricey. I'm going to try dividing some this season, and perhaps gathering seeds???

I was looking to see if you have instructions for making hoop houses, but had to stop and comment here. I love those hellebores!
