OH dear ! I only went in for some eggs !

I honestly did only go in the local nursery for my fresh free range eggs. I even had the right money in my pocket. I should have left my purse at home because I came out with these lovelies as well as the eggs (of course !)

Dianthus 'Indian Pink'

Everlasting Sweet Peas

I tried to germinate some of these given to me by a friend, but had no luck with the seeds.

I just loved this Hydranga, and it was in a small pot for £4.99, so I took it home and re-potted it into a much larger pot with some ericasious compost that I had. Later on I will put it outdoors.

But for now, I wrapped the pot in pink tissue, put some lovely wide ribbon around it and tied that with some twine, and it looks just beautiful in the hall.

I can't wait to plant the new Dahlia and the Gladiolas now.

I love your new purchases. All too often I feel I should have left that purse locked in the trunk too. I love the tissue and ribbon idea. Looks nice. Looking forward to the pretty blooms from your new purchases.

Thanks BECCA, I am pleased with them, but I seem to be unable to control myself at this time of year when all the new plants are in the garden centres. Hopefully the allotment will keep me away from them when the weather is better. I'm never tempted to buy veggie plants it's much cheaper to sow seeds.

Quite right too - it's the time of year for itchy fingers when you go to a nursery or garden centre. I can't pass a stand of seeds without having to buy a packet.

HappyMouffetard, I'm so glad you understand, it makes me feel better when I know someone else does it too.

You can go and buy me eggs any day! :-)

Oh it's so tempting isn't it when shopping. Electronic purchasing ability made it all too easy to make those impulse plant purchases. But you chose well! I'm sure they will perform beautifully for you this year.

I often blow the budget just nipping in for one little thing. I think the retailers are counting on it. This time of year I am plant deprived, so what do they do? Daffs and hyacinths in cute little pots, as far as the eye can see.

They look lovely and spring like - unlike the view from the window the forecast snow has come. I'm off to see if my seedlings are surviving...
Happy Easter

I can understand why you had to have those, you made some beautiful purchases. I love what you did with the hydrangea. I've got a perennial sweet pea in the garden which I was given, it's really hardy and started putting shoots out almost as soon as the snow had passed. It's really rampant though so I think I'll have to try and move it to somewhere more suitable this year.

Thank you all for the comments, I feel better about my totally unplanned purchases now. In case anyone is wondering what smelly things ALI is posting !! it's some dried Lavender that she's sourced for me to fill my fabric hearts with (such a darling).

JO I will bear in mind your comment about the everlasting Sweetpea and make sure I give it lots of room, thanks for that.

Have a Lovely Easter everyone, and not too much chocolate !!!

I have been very "strong" and driven right past the garden center since it opened for the season. I know once I stop there I wont be able to resist. But reading your blog, and seeing those beautiful blooms, tempts me to grab my purse and car keys...

Hi Maureen!
I have not been able to keep up with blogging so well. We just had our kitchen remodeled, and I haven't been online as much as I used to.

I noticed your comment on Pam's English Garden, and wanted to stop by and say hi. I enjoyed your post. That sounds like me. I like how you included the eggs in your photo. They do look good. Enjoy your pretty blooms! I love dahlias, but never grow more than a few at a time, because I don't have the room.

Happy spring!

HI PAM, you grab the keys and get down to the garden centre I'm sure there is something there that is waiting for you ! if you do go don't forget to post the goodies.

Hi SUE and thanks for stopping by. It seems that I am not the only impulse buyer (makes me feel better !) I only got to love Dahlias over the past couple of years and now I can't get enough of them.
HAPPY EASTER to everyone x

Hmmmm! this is a familiar story. My car has taken to turning into the garden center all on it's own as I attempt to drive on by. *chuckle*
I don't smoke, or drink, I have to spend my pocket money on something. *grin*

Hi KeeWee, that made me chuckle! I'm glad MY car doesn't really do that !! I'm bad enough by myself. I just had a look at your blog. The beds look so neat and like you I companion plant with marigolds, they are so cheerful even if they don't do much to keep the greenfly away, but I like to think they do the job. have a good week-end

I'm wondering if you went to the store to buy bedding plant - would you come back with a half dozen eggs too?

Maureen said...

Hi Prospero, where have you been ??
you know that's a good question! and the answer is probably, because I am a scatterbrain and I do tend do things on impulse.

Prospero said...

Just to update you, Doc - the vegetable are coming up! That's under two weeks, so it's wasn't really all that bad! Now comes the tricky part: how to stop the heat and humidity from ravaging my crops!
