The New shed on plot 19, at last !

At last I can show you the new/secondhand shed. It's 8ft x 6ft where as the small one was 6ft x 4ft, so I have lots more room and can even sit comfortably in it when it rains.
I wish I had been up at the lottie when the small shed was moved over to plot 30. Planks of wood were screwed to the sides and it was carried Sudan chair style over there by 4 people. That's one way of doing it !

Now the shed is all finished (except for one more coat of the red cedar) I can concentrate on the important stuff, like planting out my cabbages and some more Kale. I have a new flower bed ready to take the dahlias when they can go out. It's the bed with the rope edging .

I'm also looking forward to paving the ground in front of the greenhouse as it was so uneven before, and I now have enough planting area for 2 maybe 3 raised beds. Moving the shed on to the concrete area has given me more planting area, which was why the council kindly gave it to me.
The last photo is of my allotment neighbour John pretending to be a scarecrow. I did warn him I was going to post the pic on this blog !!

The new shed, it's so spacious, I love it.

The little shed has now gone to my daughter Niki and Paul's plot
(No 30) it looks like a sentry box!

Niki & Paul have done wonders on their plot in a few months (Ok Niki, I eat my words, you proved me wrong, well done !)

This is the area the small shed was on, so I am now planning it out to plant and pave in front of the greenhouse.

Thanks for sharing your progress in allotment heaven. I love the number 19 shed (the colors are so bold). Everything is so neat, too. The flowers surrounding the shed are so cheery. Why did you think Niki was going to be a disaster (people often hide those green thumbs with aplomb)? Tell John he would have been good in the Wizard of Oz.

Hi Maureen,
I hope we can see photos of the inside soon - comfy chair and all. I think I want/need a new shed too. One where you can sit to have a cup of tea and a think would be marvellous.

I've just found your blog and had a good read of the back posts. It's really interesting.

Your shed looks really spacious. I'm hoping to get a shed eventually on my plot, but that will have to wait for now.

Thank you EVERYONE for your lovely comments.
PAM, I really recommend a large shed to sit in.
JO, glad you found me and I have left a message on yours.
PROSPERO, I didn't think Niki & Paul would fit an allotment in their very busy lives, long working days, dog to walk etc, but I'm glad they are proving me wrong.
I'll pass the message on to John, that will make him laugh.

Hi, Maureen,

I only just took a look at your shed after 3 busy days in my vegetable garden .... shoveling and trudging barrows full of compost in (freak) 90 degree weather. I LOVE THE SHED! Congratulations!

A fellow "sheddie". Pamela

Oh I love John! Hello there, I've come originally from EB's blog, via other garden blogs to you! I am also a crafter so have concentrate mainly on arty blogs so far, then found EB and she has all these gardeners commenting on her blog and and ..... well, you know how it goes! I love your allotment and your new big shed and the little one does indeed look like a sentry box. If you know Gilbert & Sullivan's 'Iolanthe' the lone guard sings a wonderful song from his sentry box and it reminded me of that. Oh happy days when I used to tread the boards!
SO, I live in County Clare, Ireland with my husband Jim, mad dog Buster and 2 cats, Sandy and BlackJack. We bought an ancient, tiny Irish cottage with 5 acres for our sins and are trying to make some sense of it all! I take loads of photos, mostly because I love them and also post about other things, mixing it up, as it were. I do hope you'll come by and have a browse.

I'm about to have a browse through yours now.....
