Hi I'm back !!!!

Well its been a while and the last post was a bit of a moan! It has kind of sorted as the council listened to what I had to say and asked if I wanted to take it further to the commitee.  I decided not to and we agreed to wait and see if anything more happened !  So far so good.  The warden has stayed Way from me and I him so I have been  enjoying my allotment once again.

I have done a lot in the few months since moving plots and have a fair bit growing. There are more courgettes than I can shake a stick at !!!!  And all the bean varieties are coming at once.
Usually the broad beans finish, then I have the runner beans and then the lovely French beans.
But this year all are coming at the same time and I have given loads away.

My previous plot although steep and hard to manage had its good bits which I now realise.  The first being I hardly had any bind weed and the pidgeons never ate my red gooseberries.  But here on
plot 30 bind weed is rampant everywhere and lots of other weeds I hadn't seen on plot 19 (previous plot)  and the pidgeons have stripped my gooseberries here on plot 30 ! Damn ! I love the red gooseberries, I will cover them next year.  Everyone this side of the allotment cover theirs and I wondered why ! The red currents also got eaten by the birds. I just had a few clusters left, another one to cover next year.

I hope you are all having great harvests and enjoying the weather.  I can't honestly say I am as I don't function well in the heat ! Its nice to see the sun and lovely blue skies, but feeling like someone has put me in the oven just doesn't appeal to me.

I wanted to post some photos but can't seem to get to my photos on the photo stream on my iPad, so need to do it from the laptop

Welcome back, Maureen! We missed you! Sorry about your problems. I look forward to seeing some photos of your harvest. It is extremely hot here, too, and I'm not functioning very well. P. x

Hi Maureen it's been a while since I've visited but was reminded of you when I entered one of the Pink Giraffe flowers in the Dahlia classes of my local show. Glad to hear you're back enjoying your allotment! Best regards, Damo.

Hi Pam and Damo
Thank you both so much for the visit to the blog and the comments.

I've been very neglectful of my blog I'm afraid ! I have been busy Upcycling ( or Shabby Chic-ing if you like ) old furniture. I've been doing it a while for myself, but doing it to sell now and a friend opened a Vintage shop so I have a space there to sell my things and in return work the shop for one day a week ( if you can call it work) !

PAM , I don't function well in the heat either ! I hope you and your family are well.

DAMO that's lovely news that you put one of my 'Pink Giraffe ' dahlias in for show. I lost some that I overwintered in my summerhouse, but I still have an amazing amount both in the garden and on the allotment, and they are still my favourite dahlia . How many plants do you have now ?
I hope you and your family are well.

I will be over to catch up on your harvests soon.

I have quite a few different varieties now and starting to build up a stock pile of 2 - 4 tubers of each. I really need to do the method of forcing them early and then dividing them. I just lift the tubers each winter and then split any large groups before planting again in May. If you see any on my blog in the future that you like the look of I'd be happy to return the favour, just drop me a line.

Hi Damo
Thank you for the offer and I will certainly take you up on that as I'm a dahlia freak and love new varieties. My son is knocking his house down this year to re-build and in the garden of the house being knocked down he inherited some amazing dahlias so I'll get you some tubers.

I don't live far so Perhaps i can pop them over and have a tour of your allotment ?
