They call it mellow yellow

After a heavy rainfall on Sunday night and early Monday morning, it started to brighten up and the sun came out for a while during the morning. The rain had left everything in the garden looking fresh and glistening with raindrops. I hadn't realised how much yellow there was this year in the garden. It's the first year that I have grown so many flowers from seed, and the Rudbeckia and the Zinnias are beautiful and are definitely on my 'To grow again next year' list.

Six little 'munchkin' squashes and three round yellow courgettes.

I found the little garden gnome in the loft. It was given as a joke present to my son whilst he was at university, it seemed a shame to leave him up there, so after checking with my son if he wanted it, and he didn't, I put him in the garden.

Great photos as always Maureen. Your glads look like the same variety as mine? Mine are Passo, the other variety I'm growing, Mexico haven't come out yet. I'll be posting some more Dahlia photos over the weekend as the patch is in full bloom now and looking great.

DAMO thanks for the comment. I'm not sure what my Glad's are called they came in a pack of mixed bulbs from 'Wilko's' going cheap in the sale last year, I love them. I look forward to more photo's of your dahlias.

Wow, they look really fab. You will have to let us know if they were tasty, but I bet it will be a shame to actually break into them!

Maureen, Those mellow yellows look like autumn. Where did the summer go? Lovely pics. Pam x

Hi ReapWhatYouGrow. The 'munchkin' squashes are very small but they are tasty. I find them fiddly to de-seed and peel though, but never the less they are worth growing.

Hi PAM, yes it does look autumnal doesn't it ? the days are getting shorter and there has been a heavy dew these last few mornings. Today was a beautiful sunny day though.

Hi Mo, your squashes and courgettes are looking great and I am so pleased to see you saved the gnome from a very sad world of darkness in the attic! He looks very happy there by your lovely salad boxes.

Thanks ALI, I was very tempted to secretly place the Gnome on my son's balcony and see how long it took for him to find him and then to remember where he came from,
I wish I had done that now it would have been funny !!
Those little 'munchkin' squashes are so sweet (to look at that is ) and although delicious are a pain to de-seed and peel as they are so small.

What wonderful little squashes, so decorative too!

Thanks MATRON, they are lovely to look at aren't they ? apparently used for flower arrangements as well as tasty to eat. M x
