The netting I put up went over the veg a bit late I'm afraid so I must learn from this mistake next year !!! I had netting over them temporarily, but the holes were large and the Cabbage white butterflies must have got in, as there are caterpillars in there that I have to pick off.
M xMaureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15540591998909116816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-44631638288145728682010-08-13T01:53:33.675+01:002010-08-13T01:53:33.675+01:00Hi Maureen,

I enjoyed reading about your weekend and seeing the photos of your harvest and garden. I hope that net thing works. I need to do something to keep the rabbits out next year.

My tomatoes are just starting to ripen, and I picked my first cucumber today.Corner Gardener Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10631500918579405664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-52499911670226001712010-08-09T01:12:57.548+01:002010-08-09T01:12:57.548+01:00Hi CYNTHE, it's nice that you paid a return vi...Hi CYNTHE, it's nice that you paid a return visit, thank you. I laughed at your comment on Rosie being a self portrait as your not the first to say that, so it's a bit worrying Ha Ha !! When I first put her up I had a short sighted fellow plot holder who used to wave like mad at her thinking it was me, and wondering why I didn't wave back, mind you his plot is at the far end of the allotments.

I look forward to seeing the recipe for the soup, so I hope you find one. I do see a resemblance: all that long blond hair and big smile!

Also, here's an unusual idea for your tomato crop ~ had a DELICIOUS tomato-orange soup the other night at a cafe. Am going to look around for a recipe myself. You wouldn't believe how lovely the flavors are together. It was more tomato-y than orange-y. Absolutely delish.Cynthe B.http://www.FigsWithBri.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-67147951542419646562010-08-06T00:05:03.596+01:002010-08-06T00:05:03.596+01:00Hi Pam, I haven't made any jam this year as I ...Hi Pam, I haven't made any jam this year as I am still trying to lose the pounds, so all that sugar puts me off. I will however be making my favourite raspberry curd to have with my plain yogurt, that's as soon as the raspberries are ready, mine are late fruiting ones. I will make tomato and chilli relish and sauces with the glut of tomatoes and chillies.Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15540591998909116816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-39935434068809507722010-08-05T13:00:31.295+01:002010-08-05T13:00:31.295+01:00Hi Maureen, looks like you've been busy at hom...Hi Maureen, looks like you've been busy at home and away. The tomatoes look great - have you decided how you're going to preserve some of them?
My kitchen constantly smells of sugar and fruit just now. I think I may have overdone the jam this year. Ah well, plenty for swaps.
Love the dahlias.
P xxPamhttp://www.hortensia.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-42762764129291572812010-08-05T00:17:42.554+01:002010-08-05T00:17:42.554+01:00Hi Damo, you must go to Camden if you get the chan...Hi Damo, you must go to Camden if you get the chance. The old horse hospital has been converted to Bars and markets it's brilliant. I grew my onions from seeds again this year and some of them are huge. I cooked the aubergines last night and they were tasty.Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15540591998909116816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-41950379844101631862010-08-04T22:17:43.925+01:002010-08-04T22:17:43.925+01:00I haven't been to Camden for years. I cooked the moussaka last night and I'd forgotten just how long it all takes to prepare and cook, so we ate very late. I'm not sure I will bother again.Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15540591998909116816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-72480545613753198462010-08-04T10:53:32.928+01:002010-08-04T10:53:32.928+01:00You HAVE been busy haven't you?
