The ripe ones, I think I'm going to bake slowly all day tomorrow & make into sundried tomatoes, stored in olive oil. And for the rest, I found a great recipe for green tomato cake, on http://www.grouprecipes.com/98071/green-tomato-cake.htmlShiny New Allotment Holderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15956749217205893354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-65266012187489166442010-09-18T03:45:30.351+01:002010-09-18T03:45:30.351+01:00Dear Maureen, Your harvest is very impressive! But I'm not going to have much left over this year.

Have a lovely weekend! The farmers are just recovering from that disaster .. and have planted their fall crops. There has been a reasonable amount of rain, but now, the island is faced with the prospects of hurricane Igor destroying everything. It is a very powerful storm (500 km wide!) and will obliterate everything in its path. Luckily, I haven't planted my fall garden yet. I will do so in the aftermath. I hope all is well with you.Prosperohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07114988815558549577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-47526379594203516292010-09-17T18:59:58.029+01:002010-09-17T18:59:58.029+01:00Sometimes the great piles of ripe tomatoes in the ...Sometimes the great piles of ripe tomatoes in the kitchen are a bit tiresome, but then I think about the horrid supermarket tomatoes we have to bear for the other 6 months of the year and I appreciate them a lot more!Matronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07705506930308472527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-18140171651291856082010-09-16T23:06:13.810+01:002010-09-16T23:06:13.810+01:00Hi Maureen,

Leave covered for a little while - boil up some pasta and stir through the tomatoes. Very little cooking, fast and so yummy. Sometimes add a little coriander too.
Take care,
Pam xAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-10893197815257588702010-09-16T20:07:08.553+01:002010-09-16T20:07:08.553+01:00I grow Hooligan and Winter Festival which store we...I grow Hooligan and Winter Festival which store well.Carolenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-26762737541542189112010-09-16T06:35:18.994+01:002010-09-16T06:35:18.994+01:00Thanks Maureen and glad they arrived safely. So it's pasta sauce all round which is so easy to make and the girls love it. Now down to one basket full in the kitchen! And we have lots of squash too. Thanks again for the seeds you sent me, the Dahlias are still going strong and the pumpkins are almost ready, can't wait!Damohttp://www.twochancesvegplot.co.uk/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-86010264414532088392010-09-15T23:40:08.128+01:002010-09-15T23:40:08.128+01:00It has indeed been a bumper year for tomatoes, I&#...It has indeed been a bumper year for tomatoes, I've made enough sauce to last us all winter. Have a huge bowl of ratatouille in the fridge, and there's still loads out there. I find that they store well, so there is not rush to use them up. The best recipe was halve (don't peel) brush with oil, add chopped shallots, garlic, tomatoes, and feta or goats cheese and bake til tender. Works with butternut squash too.Carolenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3135071957131268670.post-20962052425091497832010-09-15T17:39:24.906+01:002010-09-15T17:39:24.906+01:00All those wonderful tomatoes this year.
